Credit Definition and Requirements

TRADITIONAL Courses utilizng books and other materials:
These courses are all offered as home study where you do them entirely on your own and at your own pace. Certain courses may also include onsite visits to interesting places pertinent to the course subject. Books, CD's, DVD's and other materials required to do each course are included in the cost of tuition and are yours to keep for classroom or personal use. They are called our "traditional" courses. These courses may be eligible for credit under the "No Child Left Behind" guidelines. They offer from 1 to 4 credits, depending on the course.

ONLINE Courses:
Online ACT Courses are delivered over the World Wide Web. Participants will study on their own time and complete relevant assignments based on the learning outcomes in each lesson and specific criteria outlined in course instructions. Upon grading projects and verification of hours dedicated to completing course work, credit is recorded on an official transcript. They are all 3-credit courses. Enroll any time • Up to six months to complete.

EMAIL Courses:
These courses are conducted entirely by email. No books, tapes or other materials are required. Everything you will need to complete a course will be delivered via email. Upon enrollment, you will receive an email from the instructor who will provide all assignments by way of attachments. Assignments will be emailed back to the instructor as attachments as they are completed. Interface with the instructor will be available and encouraged. They are called "email courses" and they are all 3 credits. These courses may be eligible for credit under the "No Child Left Behind" guidelines. They all offer 3 credits each.

INTERNET Courses leading to the development of projects or lesson plans using Internet resources:
These courses require access to the Internet to complete assignments. They are designed for you to learn or hone your skills on the Internet to ultimately develop projects or lesson plans on the course subject using resources found on the Internet. Course assignments are delivered to you online for via email. These are called "Internet Resource" courses. They are all 3-credit courses. These courses may also be eligible for credit under the "No Child Left Behind" guidelines.

INDIVIDUALIZED STUDY Courses:
Situations arise where you may create units of study through your own experiences, personal research, travel studies, attended workshops or seminars, and/or other educational situations to formulate educational projects for your classrooms or for in-service presentations or community projects related to your profession. It’s called “Individualized Study,” and now you can receive from 1 to 4 semester units of professional development credit in several disciplines for those endeavors.
