ELIT709
There is a life-kissed, death-haunted energy and beauty in the revelatory poetry of Walt Whitman and in the equally revelatory music and lyrics of Bruce Springsteen. This course will examine this poetry and music, and through them, each man’s vision of his people and his country: a vision of the “simple separate person,” the democratic multitude, and America, the land of hope and dreams. And if you let them, their words will examine you. Best suited for the teaching of high school or community college level students.
