When Lincoln Freed the Slaves

Description

The Emancipation Proclamation is often a misunderstood document. It did not free the slaves, only a portion of them. This course explains which slaves were freed and the reasoning behind this decision. It also explains the intense dislike some had for Lincoln in some quarters and his stand on slavery.

Course Type

This is a non-classroom, self-directed, independent study courses, which may include DVDs, CDs, audio/video tapes or other materials and assignments to be returned by mail. Some traditional courses are all home study, others require visits to various locations in the area being studied, and some offer a choice of both. You may earn between one and four semester hours of credit for a Traditional Course, depending on the course you choose.
