This course will focus on the biological science associated with zoos and aquariums. You will be expected to visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo or a zoo/aquarium of your choice and complete an animal profile project (just as students would be expected to do prior to a field trip to a zoo or aquarium), as well as a class conservation project. The lessons for this course are designed to introduce you to the animal profiles for local zoos/aquarium in an effort to prepare your students for the animals they will encounter. Although this is meant to be a pre-field trip project for the classroom, it can also be adapted for a virtual trip with little effort. The animal profile project enables the classroom teacher to cover many science and technology standards.
