SSR Is Always OK!

Description

Teachers will find this course on Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) invaluable in two dimensions. First and foremost, it is an excellent tool for teaching reading comprehension and generating a healthy enthusiasm for reading. It is based upon giving the student a choice in the reading material and the student setting the pace rather than the teacher. Secondly, it is a wonderful tool for the teacher when he or she has finished that dreaded 15 minutes short of an hour...what on Earth do you do with students now? SSR is always OK!

Course Type

This is a non-classroom, self-directed, independent study courses, which may include DVDs, CDs, audio/video tapes or other materials and assignments to be returned by mail. Some traditional courses are all home study, others require visits to various locations in the area being studied, and some offer a choice of both. You may earn between one and four semester hours of credit for a Traditional Course, depending on the course you choose.
