The vastness of outer space is incomprehensible to the average person. Indeed, most astronomers believe that the universe is infinite. If it is clear outside now, assuming it’s dark, go outside and look up at the night sky and try to convince yourself that you are looking out into infinity or forever. While the distances between stars make it virtually impossible for us to conduct interstellar spaceflights, our solar system, although huge by earthly standards, is rather compact. And, we have so much to learn.
