This course examines in detail Neanderthal man and his place in history. What sort of being was he, the brutish plodder traditionally given, or was his brain, larger than ours, capable of more? And did you know he was often depicted with red hair and freckles? Learn where he came from, the extent of his wanderings, and whether he contributed to today’s gene pool.

Course Type

This is a non-classroom, self-directed, independent study courses, which may include DVDs, CDs, audio/video tapes or other materials and assignments to be returned by mail. Some traditional courses are all home study, others require visits to various locations in the area being studied, and some offer a choice of both. You may earn between one and four semester hours of credit for a Traditional Course, depending on the course you choose.
