Description

Ever wonder what it would be like to communicate with another species of animal and know what they are feeling or thinking, or how they look at the world? In this course, you’ll meet Koko, a 37-year-old gorilla who can communicate with humans through American Sign Language. You watch as Koko jokes, laughs, is stubborn, insults her trainer, and in general acts like a complete human being. Koko has 1,000 ASL signs and understands more than 2,000 English words. Your students will fall in love with her.

Course Type

This is a non-classroom, self-directed, independent study courses, which may include DVDs, CDs, audio/video tapes or other materials and assignments to be returned by mail. Some traditional courses are all home study, others require visits to various locations in the area being studied, and some offer a choice of both. You may earn between one and four semester hours of credit for a Traditional Course, depending on the course you choose.
