Literature and Social Criticism

Description

The texts in this course were chosen because they all have merit as “Realometers” of the American consciousness, and/or American values, or the American scene. You will see the America of California’s migrant worker and that of the middle-American working class. You will wander through an America of battered dreams, unfettered consumerism, devouring systems of healthcare and technology, and almost mystical hope. Each shows us, in its own way, America.
