ELIT704
The books of this course are each a bit of shrapnel in the top of our conscience, eye opening narratives in opposition to the diseases of war. One uses heavy doses of irony as a tool of opposition, one uses image inundation, with the impact of that nipponized bit of the el, another emphasizes memory and the imagination in exploring the nature of war and the men and women who fight it. The fourth is a book of peace. Note: The Painted Bird is a very graphic read.
