Emily Carr broke many of the expected behaviors for a young lady of her time. She painted pictures that were not still life subjects, embraced the natural setting and loved the Northwest Native Culture. You will appreciate and gain an understanding of this artist as you read about her life, study forty of her pictures with quotes from her writings in Beloved Land: The World of Emily Carr.

Course Type

This is a non-classroom, self-directed, independent study courses, which may include DVDs, CDs, audio/video tapes or other materials and assignments to be returned by mail. Some traditional courses are all home study, others require visits to various locations in the area being studied, and some offer a choice of both. You may earn between one and four semester hours of credit for a Traditional Course, depending on the course you choose.
