The Elemental Teacher: What Makes Them Extraordinary?

Description

This course will look at a gallery of teacher portraits in literature and film, both fiction and non-fiction. In examining these portraits, you will be trying to discover the elemental teacher. That is the teacher who possesses traits and skills suggested by and/or equivalent to the four elements of nature – earth, wind, fire, and water – essentials that produce extraordinary teaching results. You will also have the opportunity to examine your life with teachers and your life as a teacher.

Course Type

This is a non-classroom, self-directed, independent study courses, which may include DVDs, CDs, audio/video tapes or other materials and assignments to be returned by mail. Some traditional courses are all home study, others require visits to various locations in the area being studied, and some offer a choice of both. You may earn between one and four semester hours of credit for a Traditional Course, depending on the course you choose.
