Computers: From Birth to Beyond

Description

Trace the development of the computer from its humble beginnings with vacuum tubes and wires to today’s sophisticated machines. Discussing the giants of the industry and their contributions to computers that have made computers necessities in most every aspect of our lives. The final project asks you to look ahead 100 years to conjecture about its future and where it might be taking us.

Course Type

This is a non-classroom, self-directed, independent study courses, which may include DVDs, CDs, audio/video tapes or other materials and assignments to be returned by mail. Some traditional courses are all home study, others require visits to various locations in the area being studied, and some offer a choice of both. You may earn between one and four semester hours of credit for a Traditional Course, depending on the course you choose.
